Homes at Glades by Halcyon QLD

Glades was our second integrated community designed under the Halcyon banner of over 50’s active lifestyle living. The community is located not far from the centre of Caboolture in a what was a semi-rural setting at affordable prices and includes over 160 houses, a recreation precinct, van and boat storage, and a workshop. Following on from our work at Halcyon Vision, we created a new design direction known as Urban Country Music to drive the design language for both architecture and landscape. Urban Country Music derives from Caboolture being more rural than its Halcyon cousins as well as the fact that Caboolture is home to Keith Urban and the annual Urban Country Music Festival as well as a near neighbour to the Woodford Folk Festival. Our main focus was the development of the character of the external forms of the homes of the Halcyon range for this project specifically. In keeping with the Urban Country Music design direction, a focus was given to creating more gable roof product which seemed fitting to the semi-rural setting as well as having a visual relationship to the Long House and streetscape cohesion.

This project offers some of the best opportunities for community integration from the interior of the home, to the semi-public front verandah through to the streets where friends gather to enjoy conversation or open up the garage to work on a range of hobbies. The streetscapes themselves become the backdrop of social activity, gardening, exercise and relaxation. The community recreation facilities further compliment the opportunity for a quality lifestyle as an expansion to the homes.
