Leisure Precinct at Vision by Halcyon QLD

The Leisure Precinct forms the main spine of Halcyon’s over 50’s active lifestyle Vision project at Hope Island. These facilities are key components of the overall masterplan as they connect the entry and movement to the water and the residents to community spaces.

Visitors and residents experience the black building with the theatre of its dynamic roof form and swimming pool greeting you upon entry, then the surrounding landscape draws you in and leads you down to the Aquatic precinct on the water where one can relax and enjoy the sunset from the Boatshed. These elements are all part of the expression of the project vision – “Exuberance”. The building comes alive in the evening as patterned lighting plays its way across the soffit over the pool highlighting the sub-tropical lifestyle of South East Queensland. The beautiful Poinciana trees which delineate the spine offer shady spaces to sit and relax, while the external paving patterns that wrap around the function spaces relate both to the road patterns as well as the floor patterns inside the building, demonstrating the integration of architecture, landscape and interiors.

Flowing through into the building, residents have the opportunity to enjoy a range of passive and active forms of recreation such as the dance floor and function space overlooking the water, exercising in the gym or shaded pool, enjoying a massage or movie, games and craft areas for resident group activities, or quietly enjoying the luxurious intimacy and warmth of the lounge-like library. These facilities support a wide range of community groups and activities as well as offer spaces where residents can welcome guests and connect with neighbours as an expansion of their own homes. This aligns with our vision as we seek to create better places for people to live filled with friendship and fun.
