DC8 Studio’s vision and value adding ethos took the stand-alone tunnel control centre in an isolated location and relocated and redesigned the concept into a valuable, income-producing asset for Brisbane City. 

The control centre for the new Legacy Way Tunnel is a 24-hour, seven day a week operation, overseeing the 4.6km long twin tunnels that connect the Western Freeway at Toowong with the Inner City Bypass at Kelvin Grove.

DC8 Studio worked closely with stakeholders to meet the highly detailed technical requirements of the facility including a 24/7 CCTV room, tunnel ventilation control, safety and security an emergency control centre.

This building also achieved 5 star NABERS and Greenstar ratings.

A studio design collaboration with SJB architects combined interior design services to deliver the ground floor lobby, end of trip facilities (bike storage and showers), lift cars, the two floor principal tenancy and the tunnel control centre as well as, on untenanted floors, lift lobbies and bathrooms.
