Olio Cafe Brisbane Convention + Exhibition Centre QLD
-
DC8 Studio were commissioned by the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre to provide interior design and branding for a new café space created as part of the BCEC extension designed by Cox Rayner Architects.
As part of the brand scope, which included design parameters for type face, signage, menus, packaging and uniforms, DC8 studio were tasked with naming the café.
Located in Southbank, the cultural and entertainment hub of Brisbane, DC8 Studio named the café OLIO, a name that has reference to both food and the arts. OLIO, meaning oil in Italian, is also a short song or dance performed as an encore after a performance. Joinery and furniture for the café were designed or selected to respect Cox Rayner’s overall design and aesthetic.
