Cool Mac Cafe NSW
-
The makeover of Cool Mac Café, part cafe and part gallery for local artists, began with developing the style around the client’s interests… cycling, art, graffiti and tattoos… a miniscule budget and very creative thinking. The fit-out was designed around handy man level abilities with materials and equipment sourced second hand, recycled or reconfigured to suit the new space.
The planning of the space involved tight workflow constraints with very minor or no relocation of services. The biggest challenge was designing the space to comply with current food premises requirements.
The interior palette consists of a simple painted black backdrop and plywood ceiling panels in the public space with a crisp white background and easy clean surfaces in the food preparation area. In addition, there is a recycled timber feature wall and recycled timber counter fronts supplied by a local joiner, with a custom bike spoke pendant light to top it off.
