Arbour On Grey Apartments QLD

Urban Design + Architecture + Master-planning
  • The Arbour on Grey mixed-use development is located along the well defined, vibrant and diverse Grey and Little Stanley Streets, South Bank. This site is approximately 400 metres long by 25 metres wide. The Commercial/Office building occupies approximately 50 metres of the site at the northern end, with the residential component continuing on a further 150 metres and the Arbour On Grey Stage 2 the final 200 metres moving southwards.

The residential buildings are comprised of ground floor retail spaces, service facilities and residential lobbies. The upper 3 levels are dedicated to residential apartments of 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms. All have large balconies and most have the advantage of the north-east orientation with the Parklands, river and city views.

Among the many important design philosophies, the desire to create livable residential apartments was paramount. This was pursued by the incorporation of layering, variation and incident in fa├žade treatment derived from a defined but diverse palette of materials, colours, textures and techniques of assemblage. Where feasible, floor plans are through building configuration to enhance natural ventilation. At street/retail level, the building plan is modulated to form solid and void to the street.

The project philosophy/design intent was to create a vibrant and diverse urban environment with a distinct edge to the Parklands and to reinforce Grey Street as a major boulevard.
